Keeping Raleigh Smiles Healthy Through the Holidays

The Holidays are right around the corner – and all the eating and drinking involved can be damaging to more than your waistline! Here are a few things to remember that can help protect your teeth during the holiday season:

  1. Eat only at meal times. Why? For about 20 minutes after you drink or eat anything, especially sugary foods and candies, your mouth is under attack. If you space your eating out over the day or for hours while at a party, your teeth will be exposed to harm for much longer than it should be! Try to do all your eating at once and try to choose treats that aren’t sticky or chewy.
  2. Brush your teeth after you eat. If you can’t brush after eating something sweet, swish some water in your mouth. Even drinking a glass of water can help rinse sugars off your teeth.
  3. If you are going to drink a lot of red wine and coffee over the holiday season, keep in mind that these are very staining. Rinse your mouth with water and keep a whitening pen handy for touch ups. Or consider scheduling a post holiday whitening and cleaning to get your teeth back in shape after all the indulgence.

Whatever your plans are this holiday, remember to celebrate your smile by taking good care of it! For more information about keeping your Raleigh smile healthy and bright, call Rennaissance Dental Center at 919-786-6766 to schedule your appointment, or visit www.northhillsdentists.com for more information.

Lumineers – The Easy Way to Perfect Raleigh Smiles

Have you been wishing for a more perfect smile but the idea of porcelain veneers makes you a little nervous? After all, once your porcelain veneers are completed, you can never smile without them again. Even though your teeth look fabulous, porcelain veneers are not reversible because too much of your own tooth must be removed before application. Don’t worry another minute! Lumineers® are porcelain veneers that are so thin, they do not require extensive grinding down of your own teeth. In spite of their size and ease of use, they look amazing, mimicking natural tooth luminosity and color while making your smile absolutely perfect. For more information about how Lumineers porcelain veneers can help preserve and perfect any Raleigh smile, call 919-786-6766, or visit www.northhillsdentists.com for more information.

Digital X-Rays– Protecting Raleigh’s Health and Environment

So, what’s all the fuss about digital dental x-rays? And what is the big difference between digital and standard radiographs? There really is a big difference. First, the flexibility of digital x-rays far surpasses traditional film x-rays. Traditional x-rays were generally very small and viewed on a lightbox, while digital x-rays are viewed the size of a computer screen. Because they are digital, we can use the computer to enlarge, enhance and even colorize the images of your teeth. Even better, digital x-rays expose you to approximately 80% less radiation than traditional radiographs, and since we do not use chemicals to develop the film, digital x-rays involve fewer dangerous chemicals to harm the environment and less paper waste. Talk to us about how our digital dental x-rays can help both your health and your environment in Raleigh by calling 919-786-6766, or visit www.northhillsdentists.com for more information.
